Abstract

PURPOSE:To make quick judgement of the test result possible, by executing at least once a testing cycle consisting of salt spraying, forced drying, salt-water immersion and spontaneous drying in the corrosion test of a metal material. CONSTITUTION:The salt spraying is applied as the first step to the metal material such as uncoated steel plate, coated steel plate and the like for a prescribed time (e.g. for 17hr) at 40-55 deg.C. Next, the forced drying is applied, for instance, for three hours at 70 deg.C. As the third step, the material is immersed, for instance, in the same 5% aqueous solution of NaCl as in the first step for two hours at 50 deg.C. Finally, it is subjcted to the spontaneous drying (for two hours) at room temperature. This cycle is repeated in required times. By this method, the behavior of the metal material ranging from corrosion to perforation is promoted, whereby the test result can be judged rapidly.
