Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable an easy positioning and mounting of seal blanks and an orignial to their respective rotary discs, by a method wherein the seal blanks and the original are attached on their respective rotary discs secured at opposite ends of a single horizontal shaft.
CONSTITUTION: Rotary discs 6 and 8 are securely fitted at opposite ends of a single horziontal shaft 4, a large number of seal blanks are held on the outer surface of one rotary disc 6 and an original 7 on the outer surface of the other rotary disc 8 so that their respective phase positions coincide. A laser oscillatior 9, which is positioned facing and opposite to the seal blanks held on the rotary disc 6, is placed in a stationary position, and a photoconversion type process information reading means 10, which is positioned facing and opposite to the original 7 held on the other rotary disc 8, is set in a stationary position. Process information are continuously read from the original 7 by means of the information reading means 10. Based on said information, laser beam 20, which is oscillated by the laser oscillator 9 and with which process surfaces 5a of the seal blanks 5 are irradiated, is controlled intermittently, and the process surface 5a of the seal blank is engraved through laser beam 20.
