Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (X is H, nitro, carboxyl or halogen; R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is phenyl having 1W3 halogen, OH or lower alkoxyl at any positions).
PROCESS: A phthalic anhydride of formula II is reacted with an equimolar amount or a slight excess of aromatic amine expressed by formula III in a solvent, e.g. ethanol, under cooling with ice or at room temperature to afford the compound of formula I.
