Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for a modified organic silicone in high yield and in high purity, by breaking the silicon-silicon bond of a disilane with a methanepolychloride in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group of triphenylphosphine, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The silicon-silicon bond of a disilane shown by the formula I (R1 is monofunctional hydrocarbon group; a and b are 0W3) is broken with a methanepolychloride (e.g., methylene chloride, carbon tetrachloride, etc.) shown by the formula II (c is 0W2) in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of triphenylphosphine, triphenylphosphine complex of VIII group element, and an amine compound, to give an organic silicon compound shown by the formula III (d is 1W4; c+d is not more than 4). Methyl group is preferable as R1 in the formula I. Especially in preparing a chlorinated methyl group-containing silane, separation and purification by distillation of unreacted silane, etc. is not required.
