PURPOSE:To directly obtain the luminance signal from the output of a solidstate image sensor, by using a cyanic stripe shape filter element in place of conventional blue stripe filters. CONSTITUTION:A cyanic stripe shape filter element Fcy is used for the color separation filter, in place of conventional blue stripe filter elements. Further, the ratio of the amount of transmission of blue light of the cyanic filter element Fcy to green light is selected so that the signals SR, SG, SB, red, reen and blue can be SR:SG:SB= 0.3:0.59:0.11. Thus, when the polarized characteristics of the cyanic filter element Fcy is determined, NTSC luminance signal 0.3SR+0.59SG+0.11SB can directly be obtained from the output signal of the image sensor, without through matrix circuit.
