Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity by using a color filter basic unit increasing the number of filters with high transmittivity in a TSL system color solidstate image pickup device so as to improve the aperture rate of a photoelectric conversion element. CONSTITUTION:A basic unit (1 dot) is constituted by plural color filters arranged in a region surrounded by F1-F4 in the color filter. The basic unit is constituted by 8 color filters arranged corresponding to 8 sets of photoelectric conversion elements PD1 or PD2. Among the color filters constituting said basic unit, the number of white filters W with high light transmittivity and the number of yellow filters Ye are arranged more than the number of cyan and green filters Cg, G with a low light transmittivity. Thus, since the photoelectric conversion signal in total in the basic unit of the color filters is increased, the sensitivity is improved.
