Abstract

PURPOSE:To wind a magnetic tape under constant tension by providing a means of automatically stopping rewinding and changing it over to high-speed winding by the signal detecting the final end of the tape and the signal from an upper position device or a manual switch. CONSTITUTION:When a new magnetic tape or a magnetic tape which has been preserved for a long period is mounted to this magnetic tape apparatus, and if logic 1 is applied to a connection line 17 by the signal from a manual switch or upper position swicth provided to the apparatus, the Q terminal of an FF circuit 11 goes to logic 1 and the Q' terminal to logic 0, and the output of a logic circuit 12 goes to logic 1, then a capstan high-speed forward driving circuit 14 operates and a capstan motor 16 runs at a high speed to rewind a magnetic tape 3 from a file reel 1 to a machine reel 2. When an EOT marker which is the final end mark of the tape 3 is detected with a detector 6 and logic 1 is applied to the connection line 18, the motor 16 runs reverse from the previous direction at a high speed, by which the tape 3 is wound to the file reel 1.
