Abstract

PURPOSE: An antifreeze having improved anticorrosive action on all the constituent metals in the cooling system, e.g. steel, brass or aluminum alloy, prepared by adding a specific dithiol-s-triazine derivative and nitrous acid (a nitrite) as a corrosion inhibitor to a glycol.
CONSTITUTION: An antifreeze prepared by adding (B) 0.001W0.5wt% a dithiol-s- triazine derivative, e.g. monosodium salt of 2-anilino-4,6-dithiol-s-triazine, expressed by the formula (R is -NR2', -NHR' or -SM; R' is H, substituted lower alkyl, substituted phenyl group, etc.; the substituent is -H, -OH, -NH2, etc.; M is Na, Ca, H or amine, and at least one of M's is Na or Ca) and (C) 0.01W1.0wt% (calculated as a nitrite) one or more types of nitrous acid and a nitrite, as corrosion inhibitors to (A) a glycol (one or more types of glycols). The antifreeze is used as a 5W 60wt% aqueous solution.
