Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize a high-efficiency flashing device by providing the series circuit of a resistance, a switching element and a constant-voltage closed diode connected to a main capacitor and by supplying a driving current to a dimming circuit via the constant-voltage diode. CONSTITUTION:The series circuit of resistance 5, transistor 15 as a switching element, and constant-voltage diode 11 is provided in parallel connection to main capacitor and when triger switch 8 is closed and flash discharge tube 3 starts light emission, a bias voltage is applied to the base of transistor 15 as a switching element for dimming starting via resistance 14 to conduct the transistor. Since part of a discharging current flows through the said series circuit, a prescribed voltage drop is generated across diode 11. This is applied to dimming circuit 12 to start dimming operation. A circuit which uses a thyristor as the dimming starting switching element may be used.
