Abstract
PURPOSE:To restrict variations of the dropletizing distance for ink threads and variations of the amount of charge on each droplets to within respective allowable ranges by a method wherein only the high-frequency component by variations of pressure in an ink tank is detected by a pressure sensor and the pressure variations are restricted to within an allowable range by controlling an excitation voltage for and electrostrictive vibrator. CONSTITUTION:Only the high-frequency component of the variations of pressure in the ink chamber 1' is detected by the pressure sensor 7 and a pressure detection circuit 8, and a comparison circuit 9 discriminates whether the pressure variations are within the allowable range or not. In the latter case, the output voltage of an excitation circuit 10, i.e., the excitation voltage for the electrostrictive vibrator 2 is changed to control the pressure variations in the chamber 1' to within the allowable range. Accordingly, the variations of the dropletizing distance for cutting the ink threads 5 discharged from the nozzles 3 into ink droplets 6 and also the corresponding variations of the amount of charge on each droplet can be controlled to within the respective allowable ranges. As a result, even when the foams penetrate into the chamber 1', it is possible to restrict the variations of charge on each of the droplets 6 and to obtain an image of high quality.
