Abstract
PURPOSE:To simply and efficiently measure the sprayed droplet size distribution by a method wherein through a rectifying plate the droplets sprayed from a nozzle are divided on a receiving measure according to particle size, and each particle size is measured from the difference in drop velocity. CONSTITUTION:Droplets are horizontally sprayed from a nozzle 1 and then start to drop vertically. Thereafter, they continue to drop at respective terminal velocities according to their particle sizes. The velocities at that time are measured by a speedometer 5, and the particle sizes are calculated according to the Stokes' equation. Then, because the droplets passing through the slit 3 in a rectifying plate 2 and spreading triangularly vary in the reaching distance as well as the distribution of distance from the nozzle center axis can be divided according to the difference in the horizontal reaching distance, the droplets are received on a receiving measure 4. From the liquid amount distribution in each lattice measure of the receiving measure 4 and the particle size therein as well as the total liquid amount in the receiving measure, the frequency distribution of each particle size and the particle size distribution from the center axis can be calculated. Thereby, the sprayed droplet size distribution can be simply and efficiently measured.
