Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently cool an exposure device and a fixing device and the space around these at a necessary timing by connecting a duct for cooling the fixing device to a duct for cooling the exposure device, and providing their connecting part with a shutter which opens and closes in synchronization with the exposure device. CONSTITUTION:A duct 45 is provided in an electrophotographic copier 31, and cools a light source 47, a reflection mirror 46, and a focusing type optical transmission body 49 therein and the space around these. A duct 54 for cooling a fixing device 39 and the space around the same is connected to the duct 45 via a connection port 55, and a shutter 56 is provided to the connection port 55 freely openably and closably. When the light source 47 is turned ON by a microswitch, a solenoid 58 goes ON, and the shutter 56 is closed by a spring 60 to close the connection port 55. When the light source 47 attenuates, the solenoid 58 goes ON, and the shutter 56 is attracted thereby to open the connection port 55, thus the cooling is accomplished effectively at a necessary timing with one unit of a fan 51.
