Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure positions successively and accurately by setting up light sources on two fixed positions with an interval and drifting buoy and measuring the time interval when the light sources of the buoy and one fixed position are detected by means of photodetecting devices in which photodetecting directions are revolved at two fixed positions. CONSTITUTION:Light sources are set up on two fixed points A and B with an interval on land and drifting buoy 4 (point C) and a photodetecting device, which consists of photodetector 8 with photodetecting part on the whole circumference and light penetrating slit 10 which rotates around the periphery at a constant speed, is installed to each fixed point A and B respectively. For example, if the time required for detecting the light from buoy 4 (C) after detecting the light from fixed point B is measured at fixed point A, angle alpha is found from the revolving speed of rotation color 9. Since angle beta can be also measured in the same manner, the position of drifting buoy 4 can be found. Thus, positions can be measured successively and accurately by means of simple device.
