Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of oxide scale as well as raise heat efficiency by a method in which a wire material is inserted into a metal long tube, negative electrodes are provided at both ends of the long tube, a positive electrode is provided on the long tube between both the negative electrodes, and a low-voltage and high-current DC power is supplied between the positive and negative electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A wire material 2 coming out of a stock portion 1 through a pinch roller 3 and a guide die 4 is inserted into a metal long tube 8. Negative electrodes 9 are provided at both ends 8a and 8b of the long tube 8, a positive electrode 10 is provided in place on the long tube 8 between the negative electrodes 9, and a low- voltage and high-current DC power source 11 is provided between the positive electrode 10 and the negative electrodes 9. The DC power source 11, consisting of a transformer 15 and a rectifying circuit 16 whose positive terminal 16a is connected to the positive electrode 10 and whose negative terminal 16b is connected to the negative electrodes 9, supplies a low-voltage and high-current DC power generated in the rectifying circuit 16 to the long tube 8. Thus, a Joule's heat is produced ithe long tube 8 to heat the wire material 2 in the tube.
