Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance exhaustive light emission of a europium-activated divalent metal fluorohalide phosphor, by incorporating zirconium or scandium in the phosphor as a coactivating agent of europium.
CONSTITUTION: The divalent metal fluorohalide phosphor is shown by the formula (wherein MII is one or more of beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, zinc or cadmium; X is one or more of chlorine, bromine, iodine; A is one or more of zirconium, scandium; 0.5≤a≤1.25, 0≤x≤1, 1/106≤y≤2/10, 0<z≤1/102). From a view point of brightness of exhaustive light emission, a range of y and z values of the composition formula of the aforementioned phosphor is praf. 1/105≤y≤1/102 and 5×1/106≤z≤5×1/103, respectively.
