Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the concentration of dispersed solid substances in a wide area and maintenance free covering a long period of time by making luminous flux to transmit a column of sample liquid. CONSTITUTION:A double-cylindrical container 1 is set up with a vertical axis thereof and having a nozzle 2 in the center of the base thereof, while in a part between the inner-and-external cylinders an overflow discharge pipe is opened. Above the container 1 a light source 4 is furnished, while below the container 1 a rectangular solar battery 5 is arranged so as to form each flank of a regular polygonal column. The sample liquid forms a free surface of the water 9 on the inner cylinder opening surface through the overflow further flowing out of the nozzle 2 to form a free-falling water column 10. The parallel luminous flux 11 from the light source 4 passes through the sample liquid in the inner cylinder from the free water surface 9, enters the water column 10 being scattered by the dispersed solid substances to incide to the solar battery 5. By measuring the output thereof the concentration of dispersed solid substances can be known.
