Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a high output of mechanical energy, by converting energy exerted at the time of reverse transformation of a configuration memory alloy into potential energy of the gravitational field, and increasing the potential energy further by use of magnetic field.
CONSTITUTION: A weight 8 of permanent magnet is attached to each of nonmagnetic rods 4 which are fixed to a rotatable member 1 and a ring 5, in the manner that it is held between a coil spring 9 and a configuration memory alloy element 10. Further, permanent magnets 11 are supported in a freely rotatable manner on pins 12 which are located at the positions of the ring 5 displaced from the axes of the rods 4. The configuration memory alloy element 10 causes reverse transformation at a point E by the heat of hot water 13 and restores its original shape, so that the weight 8 is moved upward. Thus, at points F, G and H, the weight 8 is located near the center by the additional force of permanent magnet 11. At a point A, on the other hand, the element 10 cooled by the open air is transformed into the state of martensite, so that the weight 8 biased by the force of coil spring 9 is moved radially outwards. Further, at points B and C, the weight 8 is moved further radially outwards by the function of the magnetic field producted by the permanent magnet 11 and increases its potential energy. Thus, it is enabled to produce clockwise rotation of the ring 5.
