Abstract

PURPOSE:To make easy and accurate detection of abnormalities in an electrical system which generates ignition signals by a method wherein generating periods of the primary voltage in an ignition coil are monitored at all times and when periodic variations are not within an intended range, occurrence of an abnormality is indicated. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with control circuits, alarm circuit and at all times monitors generating periods of the primary voltage in the ignition coil and is so constituted that when the periodic variation is not within an intended range abnormality in ignition can be indicated. When the reset terminal of a microcomputer as a control circuit changes from a low level to a high level and programming starts from step 1000 and reaches steps 1010-1014, first, the flag 0 judges 1 or 0. If the flag 0 is set (or, if it is 1), it is shown that the periodic ratio of ignition exceeds the intended range. Then, the programming goes to step 1011 and presence of an error is stored by step 1011 in RAM to be outputted on a display. A buzzer is sounded at step 1012 and occurrence of an abnormality is indicated.
