Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate and recover hematite with high grade by making ores other than hematite as floats then making hematite as floats by the combination use of pH control of raw material pulp and a petroleum sulfonic acid type capturing agent in floatation-separating low-grade iron raw materials contg. hematite.
CONSTITUTION: In subjecting iron ore of low grade contg. hematite and gangue minerals such as iron-contg. dolomite, fluorite, barite, limestone, quarts and mica to floatation, water is added to make this into pulp, and water glass, various starches, quebracho, phosphate or dextrine and the like are added as a depressor for hematite and pH is controlled to 7.0W10.5. A petroleum sulfonic acid type capturing agent is used with this, whereby iron-contg. dolomite and salts ores are separated as floats. Next, pH of the remaining pulp is controlled to acid side of 3W6pH, and is floated by using the petroleum sulfonic acid type capturing agent, so that this time hematite is floated as float and is separated from silicic acid base gangue minerals, and is recovered as hematite of high grade.
