Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively remove the dust and insoluble liquid contained in liquid by providing a device which electrically charges the liquid and contained dust at the upper stream of a dust collecting electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid nozzle 5 is provided in the inflow side of dust-laden liquid, and DC high voltage is impressed the same and a counter electrode 6. When the dust-laden liquid flows from the direction of an arrow, the electric field near the end of the nozzle 5 is locally high and therefore the dusts and liquid are polarized powerfully, and at the moment when they detach from the nozzle 5, they lose the charge of the polarity reverse to that of the nozzle 5, hence the dusts and liquid are charged to the same polarity as that of the nozzle 5 and advance toward the counter electrode 6. Since the charged dust and liquid are charged by the powerful electric field, they are powerfully attracted to the counter electrode 6. The electric field near the counter electrode 6 is wide enough in the upper area where it is considerably weaker than the tip part of the nozzle 5, and since the dust and insoluble liquid particles are charged, the attractive force is strong and the rescattering of the dust owing to the flow of the liquid is extremely less.
