Abstract
PURPOSE: To accelerate descent of a filter medium in order to prevent filtration efficiency in a continuous filter provided with a filter medium layer between an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder, and screen parts for passing the waste water to be filtered on the lower parts of both the cylinders, by setting the inner screen part higher than the outer screen part, and fixing a vibrator to the inside wall of the inner cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: Outer cylinder 2 and inner cylinder 3 are arranged concentrically about shaft 4 in the inside of main filter body 1, and granular filter medium such as sand or fine carbon powder is fed from filter medium hopper 17 through the space between both cylinders 2, 3. The filter medium is leveled with rake 13 rotated together with shaft 4 to form filter medium layer (B). Waste water containing suspended matters is introduced through valve 10 into sedimentation section (A), passed through screen parts 3a, 2a of the lower parts of cylinders and filtration zone (D), and the filtered and cleared water enters treated water section (C). At that time, screen 3a is set at a higher position higher than that of screen 2a, and the inside of screen 3a is vibrated with vibrator 16, thus permitting downward movement of layer (B) to be promoted, fresh filter medium always to descend, to zone (D) and therefore, deterioration of filtration efficiency to be prevented.
