Abstract

PURPOSE:To locate the fault of a rotary rectifier by a method wherein between field poles two detection windings are differentially connected being respectively shifted from the fixed phases for discriminating the frequency of the inducing voltage. CONSTITUTION:An AC exciter is furnished with two sets of detection windings 16 and 17 locating the quadrature-axis magnetic flux on the side of field pole 4 thereof and the center of said detection windings shall be the position leading and lagging so much as the value dividing the electric angle 360 deg. by twice of the number of the commutation times of one cycle of the rotary rectifier toward the center of the quadrature axis. Further said windings are furnished with the frequency discriminating circuits 9 and 10 which are constituted so as to response only when the frequency of the differential location voltage reaches the frequency 1 or 2 times of the frequency of the AC exciter to pass only the frequency com ponent of the voltage inducing in the location winding at the time of trouble of the rotary rectifier. Further at the normal time of the rotary rectifier the wave form of inducing voltage nears zero to be cancelled by means of the differentiation of both location windings.
