Abstract

CONSTITUTION: The plural containers 1-a and 1-b consisting of devices having inlets and outlets, holding a hydrogen absorbing metal (e.g., magnesium, vanadium, iron, and titanium alloy) forming a metal hydride in it, and regulating internal temperature or pressure. A mixed gas of hydrogen and nitrogen prepared by decomposing ammonium by the decomposition furnace 7 is introduced into one of the containers, for example, the container 1-a, which is cooled or pressurized so that hydrogen is absorbed. During the operation, the container 1-b is heated or evacuated to reduced pressure so that separated and absorbed hydrogen is released. The operations are carried out alternately between the two contaners, to give hydrogen by a device with simple structure inexpensively.
