Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to perform a highly accurate measurement with good stability and reproducibility, by generating friction charge by reciprocating or rotating motion of raised brush. CONSTITUTION:After a cloth-shaped sample 1 conveyed on a belt conveyor is passed through a destaticizer 15, the sample is charged by friction caused by rotation so that the acceleration of tip end of the bristles 3 of a columnar brush 10 having bristles 3 formed by a partially metal-containing conductive fiber is three times the acceleration of gravity. Said friction charge is measured by the detector 17. By said construction, the sample 1 is charged by the friction stably because the area of the sample 1 can be made sufficiently large and a highly accurate measurement of the frictional charge is performed with good stability and reproducibility and also the measurement is easily automated. Further, the same result is obtained by using >=2 kinds of knotty brushes having bristles different charging property by generating the frictional charge by reciprocating the brush.
