PURPOSE:To monitor the focus servo operation state, by describing a Lissajous' waveform on the oscilloscope on the basis of outputs of four photodetector for focus servo of the optical disc device. CONSTITUTION:Oscillator 17 outputs the stable sine signal of constant frequency omega/2pi and a constant amplitude, and the frequency is sufficiently higher than recording disc rotation fundamental frequency 30Hz and is higher than the cut-off frequency of the focus servo system. Now, if the recording face of the disc has no defects and the positional relation among the optical axis of the laser light, the lens, and photodetectors is normal, signals having the same frequency and phase difference 90 deg. are applied to X and Y deflecting plates of carhode-ray tube 21, and the Lissajous' waveform becomes a perfect circle.
