Abstract

The pre-amplifier 107 is coupled to a photodetector array that generates a tracking error signal and an RF signal indicative of the pit. A tracking error signal is used as the clock signal in the flip-flops 204 and 205 and the RF signal is used as the initial setting signal so that the flip-flop 205 generates a signal indicating that the optical head is in the pit area.
