Abstract

PURPOSE: To securely drive an actuator which is driven by the pressure of an expanded gas, through remote control by equipping a cell containing a gas which expands after absorbing a beam of a specific wavelength and the above actuator interlocked to this cell.
CONSTITUTION: When a semiconductor laser beam is introduced as a control medium into a photo absorbing cell wherein a methane gas is contained, a volume expansion of the cell appears. A pressure due to this volume expansion pushes a diaphragm 12 to the right as shown in the drawing so that a needle 14a is fitted in a nozzle 14b to close a controlled fluid passage. When the methane gas is cooled and contracted due to absence of the beam to be introduced into the photo absorbing cell, the diaphragm 12 is pushed to the left, as shown in the drawing, under the contraction pressure and a pressure from a balance cell. Such control of the beam which is introduced into the photo absorbing cell may provide a secure remote driving of an actuator mechanism.
