Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce both the transmission loss and the crosstalk by providing a light absorption layer on the circumference of the clad part surounding the core part of a multicore fiber. CONSTITUTION:One piece each of the base metal is inserted into the quartz pipe which has been doped approximately 500ppm with V2O5 forming a light absorption layer, also plural pieces of same are put into one large-sized quartz jacket pipe, the space is filled with a quartz fiber as packing, and after that, the collapse processing is performed. As a result, a multicore fiber 21 havinge plural fiber strands consisting of a core 14, a clad 15, a quartz jacket part 16 and a light absorption layer 19 can be obtained in the fiber body 20 made of quartz. In this way, both the transmission and the crosstalk can be reduced.
