Abstract

PURPOSE: To control drawing resistance by measuring the friction resistance between a mold and an ingot and varying the incident power and frequency of a high- frequency oscillation in such a manner that the measured value becomes within a predetermined range.
CONSTITUTION: High-frequency vibrations are applied continuously to the inside walls of a mold and drawing resistance is detected, thence input or oscillation mode is changed, whereby the drawing resistance is kept within a fixed range. The frequencies are kept at 5W50kHz. A steel bath is injected into a mold 1 and an ingot 6 is drawn downward. The friction resistance between the mold 1 and the ingot 6 is measured in multiple parts by devices e.g. load cells 4. These signals are passed through an amplifier 7, an adder 8 and a comparator 9 so that they are compared with the set load of a setter 10. In a regulator 11, the direction and magnitude of processing are obtained. This is passed through an output regulator 12 which in turn applies its output signal to a high-frequency oscillator 13 and transmits the regulated output from the oscillator 13 to the oscillation element 2. Thereby, the high-frequency input is adjusted and the friction force is controlled.
