Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a nozzle which shows no disorder of the injection due to the wear or breakage of its injection hole, by drilling a hole in stainless steel, by hammering the hole by means of several kinds of punches of different top angles so as to deform the hole by applying pressure thereby hardening the side wall of the hole.
CONSTITUTION: A blind hole A is drilled at the portion of a nozzle body 11 where the nozzle 12 is to be formed. The portion of the side wall where an injection hole 13 is to be formed is pressed and deformed by hammering with a small precision hammer 1 fitted with a punch 2 of 60° top angle. Then punches 3, 4, 5 of 50°, 40°, 30° top angles respectively are fitted to the hammer one after another, and the blind hole A is deformed by hammering continuously until the shape of an injection hole 13 is formed thereby hardening the side wall of the injection hole 13. The top end 14 of the nozzle body 11 is removed by cutting to form the top end surface 15 of the nozzle. The surface 15 is planished to a mirror finished surface by lapping, then a small hole 13a of about 0.1mm diameter is drilled at the center of the top end surface 15 by a precision drilling machine.
