Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the shaft torsion stress of a rotary shaft highly precisely, surely and easily by giving a linear pattern to the rotary shaft and detecting reflection of light therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A pattern 2 prepared by arranging linear marks having an excellent light reflectively in stripes in parallel to the shaft 1 and at prescribed intervals is wound round the entire circumferential surface in the predetermined position of the rotary shaft 1 of a turbine generator. To this pattern 2 is applied a light beam from a shaft torsion stress measuring part 10 constituted by a light source, photoreceivers 11a and 11b, demodulators 12a and 12b, integrators 13a and 13b, a substractor 14 and a coefficient multiplier 15 through the intermediary of optical fiber 4a and 4b and phototransmitting-receiving parts 3a and 3b, the reflected beam therefrom is detected, and based on the phase difference of signals obtained from two modulated reflection waves detected, the shaft torsion stress is detected.
