Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture spherical crystalline ammonium sulfate of a large grain size by adding a specified amount of HNO3 or NH4NO3 and a specified amount of HSO3NH2 or NH4OSO2NH2 to mother liquor of ammonium sulfate as habit modifiers.
CONSTITUTION: To satd. mother liquor 2 of ammonium sulfate in mother liquor vessel 1 are added HNO3 or NH4NO3 by 1W10% as NH4NO3 and HSO3NH2 or NH4OSO2NH2 by 0.5W5% as NH4OSO2NH2 as habit modifiers 4. This iquor is fed to crystallization vessel 5, where ammonium sulfate crystals 6 are deposited while agitating the liquor, and ammonium sulfate crystals 6A are suitably taken out. The remaining crystal-free mother liquor is circulated to vessel 1 with pump 7.
