Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the lowering of the temperature of waste gas (or exhaust gas) by adding at least one of the chlorides of alkaline earth metals to a washing liquid or slurry and then by bringing the high-temperature gas into contact with the liquid.
CONSTITUTION: At least one of the chlorides of alkaline earth metals, e.g., magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, etc., is added to a washing liquid or slurry for treatment of waste gas, and waste gas is brought into contact with the washing liquid or slurry in such a way that the evaporation of water from the washing liquid side is lessened by approximating the water vapor pressure on the washing liquid side to the water vapor pressure of waste gas by lowering the water vapor pressure, whereby suppressing the lowering of the temperature of waste gas. Thus, the reheating of waste gas can be avoided.
