Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively collect and remove volative radioactive nuclide except for rare gases by using a filler whose surface is provided with oxide film as a vapor trap filler.
CONSTITUTION: A cover gas containing volatile radioactive nuclide flows through a cover gas inlet pipe 2 into a vapor trap 1 and passes through a mesh-packed portion 5 whose temperature is controlled by an air jacket 4, where each nuclide except rare gases is collected and remove. Then, cover gas comes out of a cover gas outlet pipe 3 and then circulated to a rare gas and radioactive substance treatment system, etc. In this case, when a filler whose surface is provided with oxide film is used, volatile radioactive nuclides belonging to alkali group, e.g., 22Na, 24Na, etc., and halogen group in the cover gas can be collected and removed with a high efficiency by the synergistic effect of coagulation-deposition effect resulting from difference in vapor pressure and the chemical adsorbability of the filler.
