Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure a sufficient brake force through operation of a hand brake lever not only under driving but under parking etc. by pivoting a parking lever and an idle lever on a pair of brake shoes and coupling these two levers by means of a rod.
CONSTITUTION: This is composed of a cylindrical brake drum 12 having an open end, a circular packing plate 14 arranged facing to said open end, and a pair of arc- shaped brake shoes 16, 18 arranged on the plate 14 along the interior surface of the drum 12 and facing to each other. The shoes 16, 18 are in contact with an anchor block 36 with their one end and fixed by pulling springs 42, 44, respectively. A liquid pressure cylinder 46 is provided between the other ends of the shoes 16, 18 and energized by a returns spring 60 in such a way as these ends are set close to each other. Ths shoes 16, 18 are equipped with a parking lever 62 and an idle lever 68 in such a fashion that they can oscillate around pins 64, 70, respectively. A rod 82 is interposed between these two levers 62, 68.
