Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the excessive thickness of a mixture etc. to improve starting performance, by providing a thermosensitive open/close valve at the air vent of a carburetor for starting, to change the cross-sectional area of the opening of the air vent depending on the temperature at starting.
CONSTITUTION: A starting intake passage 31, which bypasses a throttle valve 22 from its upstream side to its downstream side, is provided. A starting well 38 is provided below the starting intake passage 31. The float chamber 24 of a main carburetor 20 is connected to the starting well 38. An air vent 50, which is fitted with a thermosensitive open/close valve 51 which is moved by a bimetal 53, is provided. When starting operation is effected, sucked air flows through the starting intake passage 31 and starting fuel in the well 38 is instantaneously sucked up into the starting intake passage 31 to that a thick mixture is produced. The cross-sectional area of the opening of the air vent 50 decreases as the temperature rises. At that time, the mixture of fuel sucked up from the well 38 into the starting intake passage 31 becomes thinner. The mixture is thus controlled to improve starting performance.
