Start and stop of indexing motion is made at the initial and ending points, respectively, of a cycle of cycloidal motion by putting one indexing motion with the rotary worktable 40 in correspondence with a cycle of cycloidal motion, so that rapid indexing without shock can be obtained even with a large worktable 40 having a large inertia.
