Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid close-contact of a floating surface and a recording medium, to make easy floating of a head, and to avoid a damage caused by close-contact, by providing a plurality of fine projections having smaller height than the amount of floating, on the magnetic head and slider floating surface. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of the slider floating surfaces 1, 1' of floating type magnetic head, a plurality of fine projections 3 having the height (0.05-1mu) smaller than the floating amount (minimum 0.35mu) are formed by the vapor deposition with the material (SiO2 or the like) which does not give any effect on the magnetic characteristics of the recording medium and slider, so that they have sufficient strength and are not easily destroyed with the slide of medium with nonmagnetic substance. Thus, at standstill, and at the start of slide with closed head and medium surface, they are not easily detached and not subject to damage with unreasonable force for the head and medium surface, allowing to increase the durability.
