Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible prevention of unnecessary electric power consumption due to overload by detecting a load level for a step motor to control a driving force and alarming an overload. CONSTITUTION:A drop in the drive signal level which is output by a step motor drive circuit 4 complying to a load is detected by means of a load level detection circuit 6 and as a result, a terminal A on a driving waveform shaping circuit 3 is inverted to a high level, opening AND gates 33, 32, a frequency-dividing output from FF9 is generated at a period of one second frequency dividing output generated by FF15 and a drive pulse is generated by an alternate pulse generation circuit 41 at time of a light load such as when an ordinary time is indicated. In the same manner, if an intermediate load such as when a calendar is indicated is controlled to result in an overload, a terminal C on the circuit 3 is inverted to a high level through the intermediary of the circuit 6 and a drive pulse generated from the circuit 41 generates two times in succession a frequency-dividing output from FF10 at a period of two-second frequency dividing output from FF16. Consequently, the second watch needle inches two steps every two seconds to alarm an overload, thus preventing unnecessary electric power consumption.
