Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the control of matte effect of the electrodeposition matte coating, by carrying out the coating in an electrodeposition coating bath containing a curable anionic electrodeposition coating based on an amino resin, and a compound having a sulfonic acid group or a sulfuric acid ester group, and baking and curing the coated product.
CONSTITUTION: The electrodeposition coating is carried out in a bath containing (A) a curable anionic electrodeposition coating based on an amino resin and (B) 0.1W5wt%, based on the solid resin content in the electrodeposition coating, of one or more organic compounds having a molecular weight of 150W1,000, containing a sulfonic acid group or a sulfuric acid ester group in the molecule, and selected from higher alcohol sulfuric acid esters, polyethylene glycol ether sulfuric acid esters, higher fatty acid alkylolamide sulfuric acid esters, and higher alkyl (aryl) sulfonates. The coated layer thus obtained is baked and cured.
