Abstract

PURPOSE: To save the energy, by covering the steel sheet possessing sensible heats with a heat insulating material on the way of transportation, and by giving a heat input from outside for supplymenting the energy loss due to the radiant cooling.
CONSTITUTION: The steel sheets 2 possessing sensible heats are piled up and are wrapped by such a heat insulating material 3 as Kaol, etc., on the transporting truck 1. An induction coil 4 is wound around outside of the heat insulating material 3 so as to make the central axis of the coil 4 coincide with the direction of piling up the steel sheets 2; AC current is supplied from the electric power source 6, through the power factor compensating condenser 5, to the induction coil 4, so as to give a heat input to steel sheets 2 for supplementing the energy loss due to the radiant cooling; under this condition, the steel sheets 2 are transported to the next process. As a result, the induction current 7, flowing through steel sheets 2, enters into the edge of the steel sheet 2 to a depth equivalent only to the value λ given by the formula. Accordingly, a temperature pattern possible to suitably supplement the heat loss by the radiant cooling from the surface can be obtained by selecting the suitable frequency (f).
