Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a printed glass product free from exfoliation by a simple process by forming a letter and the like on the surface of glass by using a coating prepared by mixing and kneading metal powder with resin or the like and by burning the same.
CONSTITUTION: Silk screen printing is applied to the surface of a glass vessel according to a conventional method, whereby a letter or a pattern is formed thereon. The coating used at this time is pastelike substance prepared by mixing and kneading powdered gold and the like with pine resin, and as the resin, thermosetting resin containing volatile constituent and being set when the volatile constituent is vaporized in a buring process will suffice. The glass vessel whereon the letter or pattern is formed is put in a burning furnace and burnt. In the course of this process, the letter or pattern on the surface of the glass vessel is set by vaporization of the volatile constituent in the pipe resin in the coating and thus the letter or pattern which is free from exfoliation and has a gloss is formed on the surface of the glass.
