Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the submerging depth without increasing the ship's draft by forming the main part of the lower hull of the catamaran such that the cross section thereof has a center of sectional area at a point lower than the center of the height thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The semisubmerged catamaran includes a pair of lower hulls 2 in the water, a pair of struts 1 each extending from the lower hull 2 above the water level, and a cross deck 3 connecting the two struts at their tops. The main part of the lower hull 2 is formed such that the cross section thereof has the center P of the sectional area at a point lower than the center (H/2) of the height H thereof. By such a construction, the submerging depth of the hulls 2 can be increased without increasing the draft, thereby decreasing the wave making resistance.
