Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the removing for catalyst the sulfur and cyanogen which shows high activity at initial use and is high in the rate of removal of the sulfur and cyanogen, by adding a polyvalent transition metal to a naphthol catalyst to prepare a metal chelate and using thie metal chelate as the sulfur and cyanogen removing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of the polyvalent transition metals such as Fe or CO is added to the naphthol having a nitroso group in the α or β-position and an acid group such as -SO3 or -CO in the molecule or to a salt of the naphthol to produce the chelate compound. This naphthol metal chelate compound is used as the catalyst for removing the sulfur and cyanogen. The catalyst shows high activity at initial use and is high in the rate of removal of the sulfur and cyanogen and the rate of production of thiosulfuric acid but low in sulfur eduction.
