Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a distance signal accurately even if the reflectance of a target fluctuates by setting two sensors by leaving these at a certain fixed distance and adding, subtracting and dividing the outputs thereof. CONSTITUTION:Reflection type optical sensors 1, 2 are set by leaving a given space between sensors 1, 2. The outputs of the sensors 1, 2 are amplified with amplifiers 3, 4, and the difference in the outputs of the sensors 1, 2 is obtained in an arithmetic part 6. In an arithmetic part 7, the sum of the outputs of the sensors 1, 2 is obtained. An arithmetic part 8 obtains the sensor outputs for the distance from the difference from the sum of the sensor outputs based on these outputs. Thereby, the curve of the sensor outputs for the distance up to the target 5 is determined irrespective of the reflectance of the target 5.
