Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the measurement of sheath thickness even if there were crooking, vibration, etc. in the cable by transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves while moving an ultrasonic wave transmitter-receiver in the direction crossing the cable running path.
CONSTITUTION: A horizontal guide 6 is provided above a cooling tank 2 in parallel with the water surface 3a of cooling water and perpendicularly to the running direction of a cable 1, and an ultrasonic wave transmitter-receiver 4 is supported slidably by way of a slide 7 in the long hole 6a of the horizontal guide 6 in the direction crossing the cable.
