Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate handling, to form an image superior in resolution, etc., and to render the proposed film suitable especially for use in a microfilm, by using a biaxially oriented polyester film having <=3% internal haze, and each specified distribution of protuberances on both the front and reverse faces. CONSTITUTION:Proper selection of an ester exchange catalyst, and particle size, addition amount, etc. of SiO2 powder or the like for providing protuberances permits a biaxially oriented polyester film to have <=3% internal haze in terms of 75mum thickness, and the number of protuberances to be in the following ranges: N1<=100, N2<=50, N3<=1, N4<=0, on the face of the photosensitive layer to be formed, and 30<=N1<=150, 25<=N2<=50, 5<=N3<=15, 1<=N4<=5 on the reverse face, where N1, N2, N3, N4 are the numbers of protuberances exhibiting primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary interference fringes, respectively, when the number of the protuberances on the film is measured by a multiple interference method using 0.54mum measuring wavelength. Use of this film permits improvent of transparency, each handling, and to obtain a photosensitive recording material of high image quality for use in EVR, etc., especially suitable for a microfilm.
