Abstract
PURPOSE: To give sufficient energy to a power cable by charging a capacitor and applying an impulse voltage to the power cable via discharge resistor by short- circuiting a gap when said capacitor has been charged to a required voltage.
CONSTITUTION: A capacitor C is charged via an appropriate charging resistor Rd by a DC high voltage generator 1. Application of this voltage to a power cable 2 is interrupted by a gap G. When this condenser C has been charged to a required voltage, the gap G is short-circuited by an appropriate means. By so doing, an impulse voltage is applied to the power cable 2 via the short-circuited gap G and a discharge resistor Rs.
