Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect manuscript density in a small pattern securely by amplifying output of a photodiode with a gain proportional to a frequency when a frequency component of the output of the photodiode comes at a maximum frequency or over. CONSTITUTION:A light from a light source 11 is reflected on a manuscript 12, the reflecting light is condensed through a lens system 13 and received on a photodiode 15 through a slit 14. When frequency component of an output of the photodiode 15 comes at a maximum frequency or over, the output of the photodiode 15 is controlled for voltage gain by AGC amplifier 18 with an output voltage of a frequency-voltage converter circuit 17, i.e. an output voltage proportional to a frequency maximum or over.
