Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve electromagnetic conversion characteristics, wear resistance and the adhesive strength of a magnetic layer, by permitting magnetic powder to contain modified polyurethane resin, containing essentially polyurethane molecules having hydroxyl group, and thermoplastic saturated polyester resin at positions other than both terminals of principal chain as its binder components. CONSTITUTION:As the binder component of magnetic powder, modified polyurethane resin which contains polyurethane molecules having hydroxyl group at positions other than both terminals of principal chain is used. Consequently, the dispersibility of magnetic powder can be improved because of an influence of hydroxyl group, and crosslinking by low-molecular-weight polyisocyanate improves wear resistance and thermal resistance. Further, using thermoplastic saturated polyester resin in combination can improve greatly the strength of adhesion to the base of the magnetic layer.
